My little children, I write this so you won’t fall

How do we know we know Him?
We keep His commandments, walk in His light

Darkness is passing away, and the true Light’s breaking through

World’s gonna pass away, but those who do God’s will live in everlasting love

Little children, this is the last time — you heard antichrist would come
But many antichrists are here now, that’s how we know time’s almost done
They went out from us, but they were never really of us
If they had been, they would’ve stayed — this shows who you can trust

But you’ve got an unction from the Holy One, you know the truth
I’m not writing ‘cause you don’t know — I’m writing ‘cause you do
Who’s a liar? The one who denies Jesus is the Christ
That’s antichrist — denies the Father and the Son both

Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you
If it remains, you’ll continue in the Son and Father too
This is the promise He promised us — eternal life is sure
His anointing teaches you all things, it’s truth, it won’t lie to you
So now little children, abide in Him
When He appears, let us have confidence, not shame at His coming
If you know He’s righteous, then know this too:
Everyone who does righteousness is born of Him
