People work and labor throughout their days,
Yet what lasting profit comes from all their ways?

One generation passes, another takes its place,
Yet the earth remains, enduring through all ages.
The sun rises each morning and hastens to the west,
Then returns again to begin its endless quest.

There is nothing truly new among the works of men.

What is crooked cannot be made straight by human hands,
