Mama’s pot was a light in the dark
A shelter from the cold,hope for the starving,the dying and the hungry.
That sacred lid fed the starving and the poor
Healed the sick when death was at the door
When you were hopeless, it nursed you to life
Gave you strength through the pain and the strife
Now you're rich, now you've seen the light
But you speak against the hand that fought your fight and fed your hapless body to life.

You turned your back on the grace that pulled you out of the dark path

But the blessings of that kitchen aren't open anymore
