Lyrics

*Title: “The Fifth and Sixth Trumpet”*
_Vibe: Dark gospel / apocalyptic rock. Minor key, heavy drums, choir shouts._
**
_One woe is past... but two more are coming._
**
The fifth angel sounded, the sky split open wide
I saw a star fall from heaven, to earth it did collide
To him was given the key to the pit below
He opened the abyss, and the smoke began to flow
Smoke like a furnace, darkening the sun and air
Out of the smoke came locusts with power beyond compare
**
Not the grass, not the trees, not the green of the land
Only those without God’s seal upon their hand
**
Torment for five months, but death won’t come
Men will seek to die, but death will run
Scorpions’ sting, but worse than pain
When the pit is opened, nothing stays the same
**
Their shape was like horses prepared for war
Crowns of gold, faces of men, and more
Hair like women, teeth like lions’ jaw
Breastplates of iron, wings with a roar
Sound of chariots rushing to fight
Tails like scorpions, stingers of bite
Over them reigned the angel of the pit
Abaddon, Apollyon—he would not quit
**
One woe is past.
Behold, there come two woes more hereafter.
**
The sixth angel sounded, a voice from the altar cried
“Loose the four bound angels by the Euphrates tide!”
Prepared for an hour, a day, a month, a year
To slay a third of men—let the warning be clear
**
Two hundred million horsemen, I heard their number told
Breastplates of fire, jacinth, and brimstone gold
Heads like lions, out their mouths came fire and smoke
Power in their mouth and tail—like serpents when they stroke
**
Yet the rest of men did not repent
Of idols they had made with hands they sent
Gold and silver, stone and wood
That couldn’t see, nor hear, nor do no good
**
They repented not of murder, sorcery, and lust
Nor of theft and fornication, turning all to dust
The trumpets blew, the woes were shown
But hardened hearts still would not atone
**
One woe is past...
Two more are coming.

*Notes for the vibe:*
1. Verse 1-2 works as a slow, ominous verse.
2. Chorus 1 hits hard with drums and choir.
3. Bridge before verse 3 is spoken—think Johnny Cash or Tom Waits.
4. Final chorus should feel like a warning siren, with choir shouting over heavy instrumentation.
