Born of God... born of God... we overcome by faith...

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God
And everyone who loves the Father loves the child He brought
This is how we know we love God’s children, right?
When we love God and keep His commandments — that’s the light

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments
And His commandments are not grievous, they’re not a heavy weight
__
Whatever’s born of God overcomes the world
And this is the victory that overcomes — even our faith
Who’s the one that overcomes the world?
Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God

This is He that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ
Not by water only, but by water and blood
And it’s the Spirit that bears witness, ‘cause the Spirit is truth
For there are three that bear record in heaven, hear the proof:
The Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost — these three are one

Lead: And there are three that bear witness on earth
Choir: Spirit, water, blood — they agree in one!
Lead: If we receive the witness of men
All: God’s witness is greater — He testified of His Son!

He who believes on the Son of God has the witness in himself
He who doesn’t believe God made Him a liar
Because he won’t believe the record God gave of His Son
And this is the record: God gave us eternal life
And this life is in His Son

He that has the Son has life
He that has not the Son of God has not life
These things I’ve written to you who believe on His name
So you may know you have eternal life, and believe on His name again
__
And this is the confidence we have in Him
If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us
And if we know He hears us, whatever we ask
We know we have the petitions we desired of Him
__
If you see your brother sin a sin not unto death
Ask, and He’ll give him life — for those not unto death
There is a sin unto death: I don’t say you should pray for it
All unrighteousness is sin, but there’s sin not unto death
__
We know whoever’s born of God doesn’t keep on sinning
But he that’s begotten of God keeps himself
And that wicked one cannot touch him
And we know we are of God
And the whole world lies in wickedness
__
We know the Son of God is come
He gave us understanding, so we may know Him that is true
And we are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ
This is the true God, and eternal life!

Little children, keep yourselves from idols... Amen
